Welcome to the website of Seine-Arche, a Regional Planning Operation of National Scope.

This large-scale urban planning project located in Nanterre, in the western suburbs of Paris, spreads over 3.5 km, from the Seine River (which flows through Paris) to the Grande Arche, in the International Business Centre of La Défense (see illustration).

A Public Development Authority was created in 2000 to carry through this project until 2015. The project, named Les Terrasses (The Terraces) aims to revitalize the urban fabric torn apart by highways and railways leading to Paris. A new “patch” of city is gradually gaining shape, replacing a labyrinth of roads with public housing, public spaces, shopping areas, and a mixed-use public transport hub serving the University and administrative centres.

Of course, the project fulfills the new requirements of sustainable urban development.

Enjoy the tour!
